Step 1: Turn Off the Xbox
The first step to unsyncing your controller is to turn off your Xbox One console. To do this, press the Xbox button on your controller and select the “Power” option. Then select “Turn Off Console” and wait for the console to fully power down.
Step 2: Unplug the USB Cable
Next, you’ll need to unplug any USB cable connected to your controller. This will help to ensure that the controller is completely disconnected from the console. Take note of the port that the USB cable is plugged into. This will help you to reconnect your controller later.
Step 3: Press and Hold the Xbox Button
Once the USB cable is disconnected, press and hold the Xbox button on your controller. This will begin the syncing process. Hold the button down until the Xbox button begins to flash.
Step 4: Plug in the USB Cable
Now you can plug the USB cable back into the Xbox controller. Make sure to plug it into the same port that it was plugged into before. The Xbox button should continue to flash while the controller is plugged in.
Step 5: Disconnect the USB Cable
Once the Xbox button has stopped flashing, you can unplug the USB cable from the controller. This will disconnect the controller from the console and complete the syncing process.
Step 6: Turn on the Xbox
Finally, turn on the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on your controller. The controller should now be unsynced from the console and you should be able to connect it to another device or the same console.
