Procreate is an intuitive, easy-to-use drawing and illustration app for iPad. It has a range of features that can help you create amazing artwork, but one of the most important skills to learn when using Procreate is how to fill in color. Fortunately, learning how to fill in color on Procreate is quite simple, so you’ll be able to start creating more beautiful artwork in no time.
Choosing Colors
The first step to filling in color on Procreate is to choose the colors you want to use. In the top left of the interface, you’ll see two circles. The circle on the left is the brush/color picker and the circle on the right is the color you’re currently using. To choose a new color, just tap the brush/color picker circle. You’ll be presented with a range of colors to choose from.
Using Brushes
Once you’ve chosen a color, you can start filling in your illustration. To do this, you’ll need to select the brush you want to use. There are a range of different brushes to choose from, so you can experiment to find the perfect brush for your artwork. Tap the brush/color picker circle again and you’ll find the brushes listed.
Filling in Color
Now you’re ready to start filling in color. To do this, just tap and drag your finger over the area you want to color. To make the color more intense, press harder on the screen. To make the color lighter, press more lightly. You can also use two fingers to change the size of your brush as you color.
Adding Highlights and Shadows
Another great feature of Procreate is the ability to add highlights and shadows to your illustration. This will help give your artwork a more realistic look. To add highlights and shadows, select the “highlights” or “shadows” brush and then use the same technique you used to fill in the color of your illustration.
Saving Your Work
Once you’ve finished coloring your illustration, it’s important to save your work. To do this, tap the “share” button in the top right of the interface. You can then choose to save the image as a PNG or JPG. You can also share your artwork directly to social media or send it via email.
